I would like to add to Dipayan's comment that meditation will be of maximum benefit only, if it provides a state of deep rest. Once your body gains deep rest, it naturally releases stress and fatigue. Transcendental Consciousness has been found to give deepest rest to your body. The rest gained during this experience is deeper even than deep sleep. This is because it is a state of no thoughts, no mental activity, just restful alertness. For this reason is Transcendental Consciousness a very desirable means for effective stress relief.
